“A Great Day Starts With a Good Breakfast”

The world’s fifth largest dairy producer, Arla, found that the average UK adult spends only six minutes making AND eating breakfast. So as part of their “Seven Great Days” campaign, Arla want the nation to #ChooseGoodness and upgrade our day by spending those six minutes making something a little healthier than cereal and/or toast.

Arla sees ‘goodness’ as:

  • Balance – eating consciously with variation and moderation
  • Nourish – optimising every meal with good nutrients
  • Natural – prioritising fresh and natural ingredients and avoiding highly processed food, whilst keeping it simple
  • Taste – stimulating the senses for enjoyment

With that in mind, I’m going to be creating one delicious but balanced breakfast each day for the next week. Hope you enjoy!

Tuesday’s Great Breakfast: Skyr with fruit and nuts

skyr with strawberries and blueberries

Ingredients

  • as much Skyr as you like
  • handful of blueberries
  • handful of strawberries
  • walnuts
  • sunflower/any other seeds
  • runny honey

Start the week off nice and easy – you don’t want anything too strenuous on these hot early mornings, so try to enjoy some extra time in bed, but still have a great breakfast to help you power through those hot office days ?

Add the Skyr to your bowl – add the fruit and nuts as tastefully as you can – you don’t need to arrange them but every little helps get you through the day. Drizzle with honey, and job’s a good ‘un. Try it with blackberries, or even peanuts and pineapple for something a bit more tropical. It’ll make you feel better than toast, and tastes better than any cereal.
