In addition to the Seven Bridges Pop-up Restaurant, we managed to check out some other tasty bits at last weekend’s Bridges Festival:

The Feathers Inn Fentiman’s Ice Cream Float

There was no way I’d pass this up – Fentimans curiosity cola and creamy jersey ice cream. You can not go wrong with this; nostalgic, sweet and satisfying and good value at £2.

Malmaison BBQ Burger

A solid burger, after a long walk around the quayside, the smell of a charcoal grill and sizzling beef was too much to resist. With good fried onions, cheese and pickle, this was tasty and gratifying. £4

Yabba Jerk Chicken

The “continental” market at Monument offered a stall I hadn’t seen before so jerk chicken couldn’t be resisted! It wasn’t as hot as some I’ve had in Trinidad (probably the only food I couldn’t finish the plate as it was too hot!!) but spicy and flavoursome, if a little difficult to eat from a pitta bread! £3.50

Given the success of Show Boat and the massive popularity of this event, can’t wait to see what next years event will bring – More similar events hopefully?!

I write about Newcastle's latest and greatest (and some not so great) independent restaurants, bars, cafes, and regional food. Lover of pizza, seafood, and imperial stouts - not all at once.
