When you nearly become ‘award-winning’.

We’re pretty modest around here, never actively seeking attention and will always take the stance of “whatever happens happens. However, while casually checking Google Analytics today there was a referral from blognorthawards.com

Somewhere along the line we’ve been very kindly nominated for one of these awards which aim to “celebrate the best of Northern England’s independent publishing”. Wow!

It’s a bit late today to recognise or celebrate said nomination, having found out we aren’t winners this time round, but have been “commended” – didn’t make the shortlist but “good enough to merit special mention”. Amazing news nonetheless and we are humbled indeed.

Seriously, the writing here isn’t by any means world-class standard, and probably wont get a whole lot better, so to even be considered is fantastic. We do this for fun and the love of eating, so award-seeking is pretty far down the agenda in the grand scheme of things. It is a great thing the guys at the BNA are doing though, so definitely have a good snoop around the site.

Anyway, best of luck to the nominees, there are some good ones: Northern Food, Squidbeak, Offally Good, and Little Red Courgette. Similarly commended was Mangechester, but our vote goes to local favourite Lauren’s Around the World in 80 Bakes – take a look and cast your vote before 17 October.

Thanks to everyone who has ever even glanced at this page and enjoyed it even for a second! If you have any suggestions on how we can improve or make the site better/relevant to you, we’re all ears.

Newcastle Eats: Commended in Best Food and Drink Blog, Blog North Awards 2012

I write about Newcastle's latest and greatest (and some not so great) independent restaurants, bars, cafes, and regional food. Lover of pizza, seafood, and imperial stouts - not all at once.
