Meat, fish, and a disaster on a plate.
A cold and miserable Saturday led an unexpected treat in the form of a quick lunch from Deli Fina, the foodie side of Carruthers and Kent in Gosforth (NE2 4AY). Didn’t get a chance to sample any wines this time - had an empty belly, so focussing on my first visit to Deli Fina - a small but lovely selection of local produce, home cooked goodies, and even a treat from our favourite pub… Couldn’t resist trying this Salmon, dill and saffron…
Update: Only last night the Feathers was voted British Pub of the Year! Well done guys!
After seeing the Feathers Inn (NE43 7SW) in the Good Food Guide 2011, and knowing they were hosting a British wines and ciders festival recently, we obviously had to tick it off the list. Perched atop the lovely little town of Hedley on the Hill, the pub is a gorgeous stone bricked old inn, a typical “locals” country pub.
In addition to the Seven Bridges Pop-up Restaurant, we managed to check out some other tasty bits at last weekend’s Bridges Festival:
The Feathers Inn Fentiman’s Ice Cream Float
One of the many interesting features of this weekends Bridges Festival was the “7 Bridges Pop-up Restaurant” on Sunday at Baltic Square. Billed as “an unusual restaurant that ebbs and flows with the strong river tides” I had to check it out!
